no guns please

posted 13th Feb
I'm having a police officer theme for my son's upcoming third birthday and i'm currently working on the invitations. I was wondering if anyone can help me with the wording. As well as the place, time, date, I also want to add in a little sentence at the bottom asking the guests to please not bring plastic guns to play or to give as a gift, but i'm unsure of the propor and most polite way of phrasing it. I know that police officer theme doesn't = guns, but I also know it would probably be something my uncles or older brother would bring for fun so that's why i want to make sure everyone sees my request on the invite. How would I write it? TIA!

I don't really think there's any non-tacky way to ask people not to bring something on an invitation, so I'd just try and spread it by word of mouth.

No guns other than a bubble gun.

I was thinking the same thing. And, honestly like EVERY single sheriff/cop toy set that I've ever seen comes with a gun and a holster. It's part of their uniform.

Yeah they do. I bought a few sets but I just threw out all the guns.

Honestly, if I was doing the party I would just have a generic party invitation and then go with the theme at the actual party. That way, nobody would think to buy the guns or whatever.

Because I would be pretty irritated if someone threw out my gift. Also, if you know someone would bring that sort of gift like you said your brothers or uncle or whatever I would just ask them to please not bring them.

Why not just say at the bottom

Please No Guns.

Sweet and an simple. It should not offended anyone, your house your paying for everything. Also your the parent, and yes we own guns in our household and I would even tell people to not bring them. If people don't like it they don't have to come. But it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Edit: when I brought up owning guns I meant that I'm not against them but I don't want my son to have them. I know ur referring to plastic guns.

Just write it down '' No toy guns please''

*I still get dirty looks when i ask people not to give my son toy guns, and there were still a few people that gave him guns and i toss them in the trash.

I like the bubble gun idea! I think for your brother and Uncle, maybe you should speak with them on the phone and specifiically say that you do not want your son to have toy guys...
