No. But some places require it

I don't rent now but have rented several times before we bought our house. We never had renters insurance till one place we rented required it. When we realized it was only like $15 a month or $45 a year or something like that, we continued it till we bought our house. I've never in the 8 years that I've rented, had the occasion to use/need renters insurance. But I also never had nice things till a few years ago.

Like homeowners insurance for a rented place. If there's a fire or something it replaces all your smurf

insurance on everything in your apartment or house you are renting. so like in an apt complex if someone else has a firei n their place, which gets to yours and ruins everything you are insured since its not the apartments job to cover anything of yours that gets damaged

i do because it covers our storage unit and one of the buildings where we live caught on fire my mom who we stay with does not.

We do because we lived where hurricanes were popular and now tornadoes happen often. We can't afford to furnish another house so we have renter's insurance.

I have it. It was required with one of my apartments and ever since then, I've always carried it whenever I've rented. Right now it's covering my stuff in my storage unit.

I didn't until a pipe under our sink busted and our house flooded. Thankfully nothing was damaged but we got insurance that day.
