Insurance or on your own

posted 13th Feb
Yesterday morning my husbands lovely piece of smurf car ran into the garage. He remote started it while he was in the kitchen seconds later heard a loud crash. Apparently he left it in gear.

So our insurance for the car will fix it. BUT our insurance will go up. If we fix it, we got a estimate for about 1,500-2,000 depending on material we use.

Question would you fix it on your own or have insurance do it and get higher insurance?

As of right now. I am kicking my resell into high gear to cover what cost we do have to pay (the insurance wont fix the car since it has liability only). So if you are interested please check my most recent forums for all my selling

I'm jsut a little confused. You have liability and it won't cover fixing your car? But in the second paragraph you said your insurance will fix the car..?

I'm thinking she was talking about her insurance covering the damage to the house.

ooooh.... I see. There's damage to the house and the car! Well, in that case, I would probably use the insurance depending on how much it'll take to fix the car.

It would depend on how much the insurance would go up and for how long. It might be cheaper in the long run to pay for it all yourself, if you can.

I'd fix it myself. You'll more than likely end up paying the same, if not more, for the length of time your insurance will go up.

I asked and they said that they wont give us a dollar amount.

We can-ish LOL. I have a BUNCH of resale stuff and we do have money saved up. BUT that was for our down payment on a new house that is being built right now.

I'm guessing since the garage doors are wood. It stopped it. Im not sure I was sleeping. He called before I left and told me to park on of our other cars where I park my truck so it wasnt so noticeable.

The insurance for the car will fix IT. It meaning the garage.
Since we do not have full coverage on that vehicle our insurance will only cover what it hit. Now if my truck was to do that (which its automatic so it wouldnt) but lets say it did. Then our insurance would fix the car and the garage.

Since the car is a 1990 it's full metal and not the cheap ass fiberglass that they make cars now days. So the only real damage was to the after market bumper and a little paint on the lights. Which for us to fix that it would be about 200 bucks. We have a tax ID for auto. So we can get cheap parts.

But i'm afraid the insurance will sky rocket. We just had someone break into our truck about a year ago and the insurance covered that.

That is what my husband thought.

Doesnt insurance go down for a woman once she hits 25?
If so I turn 25 next month.

I think so, but I don't turn 25 until August. Because of how our insurance is, we won't see any possible benefit from that until October.
