I'm nervous about DD's pedi appt. *vaccines*

posted 13th Feb
She goes in a few hours and I'm really nervous.
She's going for her 1 yr well visit and vaccinations.
Up to this point she's been fully vaccinated on schedule.
But I'm delaying/selecting this time.
And I'm scared her pedi will try to push me into getting all of them at once.

Im only letting her get: the second flu shot, PCV, and hep A.
I'll be doing MMR later and by itself to watch for a reaction.
And then I don't think I'll be doing the chickenpox at all, and if I do I'll delay that until after the MMR.

I'm a push over and it's hard for me to say no.
But SO and I discussed this and this is what we both feel is right for her.
And advice ?

It's hard to do, but you just have to stick to your guns. I am a total pushover as well and I hate confrontation...but you have to remember that nobody is going to advocate what you feel is right for your child but you. If the pedi starts giving you the spiel, let it go in one ear and out the other   That's what I do with unwanted advice. Tell them you understand, but for now you feel it's best to delay.

i'm sure the pedi will probably try to pressure you. just smile and decline. don't let them make you feel bad about your decision, either. the only vaccine i've kept DD from getting is the flu vaccine and her pedi gave me HELL about it. she basically said i was dooming her to be hospitalized with the flu and maybe die.

i hope you have better luck!

That's why I got the flu shot for her in the first place!
Her pedi kept telling me that the flu was so bad, DD would die, ect.
I'm only getting the second shot today incase I decide to have her vaccinated for the flu next year, she will only need one.

Thank you
I think it would be easier to tell the pedi no if MIL wasn't going.
But she's all pro-vaccinations and cannot comprehend why i would delay her shots.

you're still getting her shots and everything, you're just not putting as much in LO's body at once. it makes sense if you think about it logically, you know? why does your MIL have to go with you if you feel it might cause a problem?

don't let them use scare tactics on you. i know it's hard and your instinct is to believe your doctor is telling you ALL the right information, but that isn't always so. DD is always at home with me or is with my mother or her friend (if i'm working) or at home with SO. there was no reason for her to get the flu shot, i felt. if she was in daycare, i probably would have gotten it. she's only been sick once and she regrettably got it from me, which i got from work

My dd had her yesterday.

She was fine, she whined a tiny bit bit with the MMR, but thats it. I popped a cheese croisant (sp?) in her mouth and she was 100% fine. She is fine today and she slep[t her normal time yesterday and last night, I never gave her any tylenol or anything before or after her vax.

I wasnt nervous at all, I am not sure why ppl get nervous for that kind of stuff, it takes 2 sec to give 3 needles in the arm lol Does not bother me one bit.

I'm not nervous about how long it takes to stick needles in her.
Im nervous about adverse reactions and causing un necessary harm to her.
I don't see the point of giving her 5 vaccinations at one time that each have various harmful chemicals in them.
Just IMO.

Ya I still dont get worried about that either. My kids are better off vax on time with all them then to not have them, even if they got a reaction my other kids would still get vax on time.

I dont worry myself with any of that stuff, if it happens it happens.
