Stomach Bug?

posted 13th Feb
I woke up last night around 3 am feeling horrible. I knew I had caught that nasty stomach bug that my nieces and nephews had on Monday. I was around them and they seemed fine. After I left my mother, who was watching them, called to tell me the were all throwing up right after I left. Since I was fine yesterday I thought I'd just got luck. Boy was I wrong.

The problem is I have a 20 day old daughter and I am concerned about her getting it. She was around her cousins that day as well and has been around me every since. So far she shows no signs of being sick. And since my symptoms started I have given her over to her father's care. But we are still in the same house.

Being that she is a newborn why didn't she get sick first? I mean I am relatively healthy adult and would think my body would fight off a sickness before a newborn's would. Don't get me wrong I don't want her sick and I am very worried what to do if she becomes sick. She is my only child. Is there precautions I should take to make sure she doesn't get sick? If she does get sick what can I do to help her ? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Do you bf? That helps babies not get sick as much especially when you are sick! Your antibodies go into the milk and your baby get's them.

You were probably touching the other kids and their things a lot more than your baby. If she is BF, I have heard that can help with her immunity to those sorts of things too.
Most important thing to do is wash your hands a ton, keep everything sanitized and try not to get anybody else sick! If she does get it, you would have to take her in to the hospital probably because it could be really horrible for a little thing like her.

Sadly she is not BF.

I will keep a close eye on her. I have been cleaning everything I touch with Clorox Wipes. I hope it helps.

You are doing everything you can! Sadly, sometimes babies get sick and it's so sucky. Hoping you lo doesn't get sick.
