LENT Question!!

Ok so I'm christian but I still participate in lent. At my old church we used to fast for the first 7 days with no food period.. but now i just moved and haven't found a church yet here.. Does anyone else do this? And if you fast during lent how do you do it? Thanks for all your answers!!

I have never fasted for lent. I go to a Lutheran church if that helps any.

Some churches around here have people sign up to take tuRns fasting so that someone is fasting every day of lent, just not more than a day at a time. Our church encourages you to give up something(s) that you love so you can feel what it's like to be without whatever it is as a personal sacrifice. Then they suggest that you fill that void with scripture time.

Example: one of my good friends gives up Facebook every year. She fills the time she would be on Facebook by reading the bible and praying.

The only fasting during lent was what we gave up.

I've never had to fast for lent   I would not want to starve myself honestly. My ms church does some fast where they only eat clean food. Some
Only can eat after a certain time. But yeah that's not healthy to eat nothing. What kind of denomination was that?

Christian and at an assembly of God church we all did it together as the youth leadership team.

I always gave up meat or pop for lent. Never fasted before and definitely not for a week.

You would fast for 7 days?!

That's just smurfing stupid, and unhealthy. What mickey-mouse "church" would ever reccomend that? Awful.. hahahaha jeez.

Have you considered trying to fast from sunrise to sunset like Muslims/Jews? That way you could still devote the majority of your day to meditation and sacrifice, but also not be starving yourself

That's so strange. I was raised in an Assemblies of God house hold/church (majority of family served or were pastors) an never observed lent. And those who did just gave something up.

Well the point is that Jesus fasted for 40 days so you're giving thanks to him by fasting.. If he did it for 40 days I don't think that 7 is that bad

My mom goes to an assembly of god. That's where they did the clean fast. But starving yourself is not good. I don't believe god would want anyone to do that To themselves. There's other ways to dedicate yourself to god. Such as reading the bible everyday or taking time each day to focus on prayer.
