pregnant and breastfeeding

posted 12th Feb
so I am still breastfeeding my first (and plan to tandem feed when bub number two comes along) but does anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with breat/nipple tenderness? it has started to really hurt when he latches and he can't understand why I look in pain when he is feeding as I never used to (he was the easiest baby to breastfeed ever) It isn't fair that he looks worried every time he has boob. right side is definitely more sore than left side

oh man, i just want to say I feel your pain! I am still nursing my toddler and am pregnant with #2 and my nipples have been quite sore as well--i never correlated it with the pregnancy.

Forgive me if m wrong, but your post before this says your mom thinks you're weird, because you are leaking at 23 weeks. I'm confused.

not much you can do unfortunately , breast tenderness is a pregnancy thing. Put some of the bra cold packs on them, take a hot shower. And don't forget the first few days after baby comes it is not milk it is colostrum and that is very fatty and essential for the baby, not saying stop with your little one or anything. I'm just reminding you because baby really needs that stuff.

Oh ok haha. Try rubbing breastmilk on your areola.

colostrum is based on the same supply and demand as milk so there will be plenty to go around once bubs arrives. it can even help to give your newborn more because they don't have to try as hard to get let down.

has anyone tried anything? like nipple shields? i don't know. I got the same thing with my first pregnancy but I didn't have a LO sucking on them that time

mine were only sensitive for a few weeks, I just nursed through it. DD self weaned when my milk switched back to colostrum.
