What should I expect during hospital stay?

posted 12th Feb
I'm due next Tuesday and I've been really worrying about what staying at the hospital will be like. Will they give me some diapers/formula? How many people can be in the room with me when I'm in labor? Etc...

Yepp and it depends on the hospital, I'm pretty sure they are all different. It will all be okay  Bring an ipod or something to make the time pass quicker when you're in labor. That helped me. Good luck!

You should ask your doctor this. In the US they do give babies diapers/formula most stuff for babies except take home outfits.

Each hospital is different.
They will feed and give you diapers for your stay. Maybe a few to take home. They wont let the baby starve. As for how many in a room youll have to call and ask. Some only allow two at a time. During delivery maybe only two. Just call L&D and ask.

The amount of people in the room depends on the hospital I had my mom, my sis, SOs mom and sis and SO can you say circus! Worst choice ever next time just me and SO maybe my MAMA! Most hospitals have all the supplies you need and will even send you home with a cheapy diaper bag! My nurses gave me a whole pack of diapers and wipes and stuff for my son and were awesome. I went to a BFeeding hospital that only gave formula if medical reasons applied but if you needed it they even sent you home with a few days worth. They give you 3 meals a day and my hospital in York ME had the best food ever! I loved my grilled cheese and bacon and that was yummy but they did a last night stay special meal and i got shirp and steak that was just to die for... bring yourself some snacks for inbetween but most the time they have a fridge that gets stocked twice daily with soda and juices and waters   good luck and congrats!

This!
They fed me but DH had to pay for his food. At our hospital they aren't supposed to provide diapers anymore (as of Sept. '12) and although we brought a ton of diapers, they still provided us with them. As for labor and delivery, we're only allowed 2 people

My hospital would allow 4 people 18 and older in with me during delivery. Every hospital is different you should call and ask yours. They gave me diapers and they had formula if anyone needed it. They also had bottles and pacifiers.

Everything depends on the hospital, you have to ask the doctor about the number of people. I think my hospital was 3 and however many visitors as could fit in the room. But I always made up a diaper bag and a stay bag for me. BUT my hospital had a "baby cart" for the baby to sleep in it was equiped with a nose sucker (if you get one TAKE IT HOME there are none like the kind the hospital give you), thermomitor, extra blankies (they don't like you taking those but I took the main one my baby used the whole time, I like sentimental things), it had a whole drawer full of diapers and a pack of wipes. They actually will tell you what to take because if you don't they will throw it away. The stay isn't bad, to be honest it was my first day home when things were weird. You have EVERY say about your baby unless it needs to be in the NICU. But certain things like if you don't want your baby in the nursery don't let them take the baby, you have that power. my last (2nd) baby had to be under a heat lamp so I made dad go with her until I took a shower (i was mobile 5 min after having her) I took a shower and I stayed with her until they let her out from under the lamp. We m,oved the visitor chair/bed (it pulled into a bed) by my bed were it blocked in the baby cart so when we were sleeping and baby was in the cart sleeping no one could move her to the nursery. You get free food, well I did. It really isn't free unless your insurance pays for it and mine paid for everything because I had Denali kid care. Just enjoy it while you do have help and as hard as it will be to sleep DO IT THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE THERE, well that you can obviously because for some reason once your bring baby home thats when the fun starts. Seems like they are more content in the hospital, well that's how it was for me. anyways I don't know what else to say, but i'll be glad to answer any questions you might have
