Just wanted to rule out an allergic reaction to the vaccine. Its quite possible he's allergic to amoxicillin. Sometimes allergies are sudden and sometines it takes a couple exposures to have a reaction I would take him in to be seen either by his pediatrician or immediate care. Give him some benedryl if you haven't already in the mean time.

if he complains its itchy give him some benadryl or put calamine lotion on him if you have that on hand

this was my son when he broke out a week after starting amox... very similar to your son. it was head to toe

See a friend I work with said her pedi said she was seeing rashes from amoxi starting about a week out. I'm allergic too it but this is the second time he's had it and my reaction starts with in hours of taking it.....

Have you changed soaps, lotions, detergents, fabric softeners?

sometimes the first time on the medicine wont give a child a rash but the 2nd it very well could so i wouldnt rule it out yet ,he could very well be allergic to it. if hes not complaining about it, is breathing fine and whatnot then just take him into the doctors tomorrow morning so they can confirm whatever it is

My son had a milder version of this on his torso... it was something viral but it scared the smurf out of me.

your pics do look just like it!! Since he doesn't seem bothered by it and no fever I think I'm going to just keep an eye on him til morning and take him to the doc. I hate to take him to the ER and then it be nothing b/c then he will have been exposed to even more sickness

i just remember i freaked because it appeared all within 2 hours, and i didnt even think it could have been a reaction to the amox since he had been on it for a week already with no problems. i called the nurses like and they said give him benadryl or use the lotion if he complained about it being itchy... then the next day his pedi said it was an allergic reaction rash to the medicine and prescribed him something different. took a few days for the other stuff to get out of his system though and for the rash to go away completely. but it was literally head to toe, like even on his hands and feet

Don't mind the stickers that he just decided to put on his belly, but this is the most recent picture.

My kiddo had a rash like that about 20 days after the MMR vaccine. I think about 5% of kids who have the vaccine develop a "measles" rash. it is not contagious, and usually goes away after about 5 days or so. Her rash was slightly raised, and was on her face, neck, torso, and back. It looked a lot like your sons!

It looks like hives, or something from strep throat.

That's typically what happens with allergic reactions. The body won't have a reaction to something until it's been introduced.
