Zoloft

posted 12th Feb
I need some things to ease my mind. I'm a worry wart, and over the past two or three weeks I've had some sort of panic attack/anxiety attack to varying degrees every day. There was worry for the past few days that my daughter may have been in distress but all seems well with her. They suggested to me that I speak to my GP and get on some sort of medication because they believe the benefits of me being on something to help my anxiety would out weigh the risks. Has anyone taken Zoloft while pregnant and not had many issues? I honestly just need some things to make myself feel better about making the decision to take Zoloft since I feel my anxiety is starting to effect my daughter. My GP said studies showed that Zoloft was the best during pregnancy and that experts recommend it. And he DID show me proof of this.

I took Zoloft during my pregnancy. And I still take it. I have no clue if these are related, but DS was recently diagnosed with Autism. I have no idea if the two are related, I'm just letting you know

Some info on taking zoloft and other antidepressants while pregnant. I would not take anything but that is just my opinion.

If u had anxiety I definitely suggest Zoloft. I took it with dd1. I chose that the forst time around cause i had bad anxiety (worse than normal) and inleft me cryig for hours on end daily. This last preg I took Wellbutrin because it aligned more with the issues I was having this time of depression and not being able to get out of bed or do anything. I bf on both too.

I took it from 28 weeks on and DD is fine. It can cause breathing issues, I was told. But it didnt with her. It can also cause abnormalities but that's if you take it earlier on in a pregnancy as far as I know.

It helped me a lot.

I've had anxiety for years, have been off my medication just fine till this started. I'm just hoping to get some relief from this for a few months and hopefully be off it before I have her, I'm just worried about the risks as no mother wants to think of something being wrong with her child.

The biggest risk is in the first trimester. Just slowly wean when u choose to. And preg can heighten anxiety and depression. So that could be why.

I know the feeling! A lot of anxiety drugs can cause really bad things for baby! You may want to ask your doctor about buspar....it helps take the edge off....mind you it is nothing like klonopin or zanax but it helps.buspar is a class b drug it has not shown any evidence of crossing the placenta

I have awful anxiety! My dr wouldnt prescribe me any kind because "it causes problems in babies he just cant fix" i was able to take vistaril? Not sure how its spelled. Its like a low dose benadryll that was prescribed. I can take it every 4 hours. It takes the edge off sometimes. Maybe you could try that? I hope you find somethin that helps. I feel for you. Anxiety disorders suck! I cant wait to be medicated again!

That reminds me, When I was hospitalized my dr said the first remedy they try for anxiety is benedryl 4x a day.
