it could have been the beginning of love. ie infatuation but without the respect it never matured.

I wonder this about my ex. We were together for two years, he treated me wonderfully in every other way and would protect me til death, but he couldn't respect me enough to stay away from other females. I feel like, did he ever truly love me? Or did he just feel comfortable being with me. I think when you love someone you respect them in every way.
