to saute or not to saute

that is the question....

I'm making hot dogs and mac & cheese for dinner because I feel like it  

I'm just torn on whether to just mince an onion and be done or to cook some to top the hot dogs with...

I'll stick them in the crockpot for a while.. just so I can have a side of onions for dinner. Don't judge.
