getting married

for those who had a backyard wedding.. how did you go about planning it?

me and the SO are going up to PA this summer for a week. We have been talking about getting married for the past 4 years (we have been engaged since 07) and our friends that we are staying with have 10 acres of extra land. They have asked us if we wanted to use their backyard for a small wedding. (her brother would marry us) but also how would i go about getting a marriage license since we currently live in nyc?

(his mom and her bf are coming up with us along with our 2 kids)

I think you would have to come to PA for the licence, which means you'd have to come ahead of time to get it, as there is a waiting period.

And you are brave for doing an outdoor wedding in PA! The weather is so unpredictable.

how long of a waiting period? I know in nyc its only 24 hours

I don't remember exactly, I bet you could google it, but it's way more than 24 hours. It's at least a couple weeks.
