Insulin for Gestational diabetes

I want to know when does the doctors decide to give insulin or other medication pills ? if the blood glucose levels are consistently out of range? or some one whose blood sugar levels above 200? pls let me know

They tried me on a low carb diet first, then when that didn't get my levels in range after 2 weeks, they started me on insulin. Mine only got above 200 once or twice.

so does this mean even if your levels are little above 130 after meals, once in a while? I never got 200 till date, all my levels are below 130(usually less than 140) but rarely it gets over 140

Also does these insulin injections hurt? at around how many weeks they would give these shots?

You would take insulin depending on your sugar levels regardless of how far along you are.

Weeks don't matter, if you need it, they give it to you. And i'm petrified of needles, and i did it just fine. Only a tiny little pinch.
