how young can you give ibuprofen

posted 12th Feb
my 8 mos 6-mos adjusted baby is running fevers, spiking quite high at night. last night the thermometer said 104 for her, while saying 97.8 for me. So i'm worried at it being so high.
i've been giving tylenol, but i think ibuprofen is more effective. do you think i can start giving that?

I'm fairly certain it's 6 mos. the bottle should say. You can give ibuprofen every 6 hrs and Tylenol every 4. Sometimes they will overlap and thats ok. If the fever goes down its fine unless she's acting weird to you. If it stays up with the meds take her in ASAP if it's still 104. If its not 102+ without meds she doesn't need medicated.

thanks.
i called the pedi as soon as she started being feverish, and i'm going to take her in tomo.
pedi said tylenol, but i think ibuprofen is more powerful / faster. i'll pick some up.

You have to be careful with ibuprofen because it makes them sick of they haven't been eating. You didn't mention loss of appetite but just to be safe

my little girl used to spike fevers really bad. her got as high as 105.6! we were told as long as she was keeping liquids down and not acting severely lethargic to alternate infants advil and tylenol every 3 hrs.
