seriously?? vent

So yesterday I posted about talking to a friend who went to the same ultrasound clinic that I have an ultrasound booked at for Friday. She told me that the ultrasound tech was super bitchy and when she asked about the sex of the baby she was told "I can see what your baby is but Im not telling you because the doctor didn't ask for it." So I called the ultrasound clinic to see if it was policy or just one bitchy ultrasound tech. They said it was policy and if it didn't say on my referral they would not tell me. Then I also found out they will not give you pictures from the ultrasound even if you pay for them. Im really unimpressed because it really seems like they have the view that an ultrasound is just a medical procedure and not a very emotional bonding moment between mom and baby. I've never heard of these policies anywhere else and I have been to two different ultrasound clinics, both gave me pictures and tried to find the sex for me. I know that finding out the sex is just a bonus but SO won't let me shop for baby stuff until we know the sex and won't talk about baby names or anything until we know. Its really frustrating because I want to start getting everything ready and I thought Friday would be the day I could finally start shopping but I guess not. I tried getting a hold of my doctor to ask her to change the paperwork and request the sex of the baby but today is the last day this week she is in and I haven't been able to so far. I just want to cry cause I feel so unprepared and I don't work so I have no say in when we start shopping. I mean Im thankful SO makes enough that I don't have to work but I wish I had kept working anyways so I could shop and get prepared despite not knowing the sex. UGH. end vent.

I honestly don't know.. I just assumed that they would tell me at the ultrasound because both of the other places I went to (one was in the same city) the tech tried to find the sex for me and showed me all the parts of the baby after she was done measuring and everything. Apparently here they don't even show you anything.

Could you reschedule with a different place?

I thought of that but the only other place close enough has over a month wait time and the reason for this ultrasound is because they possibly seen something wrong with the babies heart at the last ultrasound.

I Wouldn't pay for an ultrasound and not get any pictures

My doctor was having a hard time figuring the sex out with this one,he has a u/s machine at his office, so he scheduled one at the hospital and pretty much lied saying he wanted to make sure of the due date, and the u/s tech had the screen facing us and printed really good pics.
That place just sounds..retarded lol

What I would do is keep that appointment, unfortunately ONLY because you want to make sure baby is growing right, all those 10 little fingers and 10 little toes and so on.... BUT and I don't know if this is an option for financial reasons, but make your own appointment at another clinic maybe even a 3D because women do it all the time. Shop around for a good price so it isn't crazy expensive but it is a bonding moment and every mommy deserves it. I'm sorry you got stuck with that place, it makes NO sense. Best of luck momma!!

Update! Finally got a hold of my doctor and she said she would request the sex of the baby for me so looks like I will get to find out after all!

My doctor is super nice and understanding so I was pretty sure if I could get a hold of her she would request it but she was only in today between now and my appointment and I could just feel time running out lol. Glad it got sorted out though. Still wish I could get pictures for SO but oh well at least we will know what we are having.
