C-Section/ VBAC question...

posted 12th Feb
I would LOVE to have a VBAC this time around but am worried about how my uterus was cut. During my pp check-up I mentioned that I was having shooting vertical pains and my doctor dismissed them stating I had two incisions the first was horizontal and the second vertical on my uterus. I was so exhausted I didn't even question it. After doing research I can't have a VBAC because of the vertical incision right? ...WTF why would my doctor do that?!

....Also I want to call to verify that this is what happened but how would I go about this? Just call and ask for a nurse or something?

I dont know about not being able to VBAC because of that because I have never had to look into it. Im sure you can just call and ask to speak to your doctor.

I've heard you cannot VBAC after vertical c-section. But I've only heard of people have a vertical during emergencies because it's easier to get baby out? Was yours an emergency or did you have any complications?

You have to go to the hospital and get you surgical records. Most docs are a bit hesitant with a vertical though. I'm sorry mama.

It wasn't an emergency my bp was elevated and I wasn't dilating (now looking back on it I don't think I was even in labor yet) so my doctor said you can continue laboring or have a csection. I was so worried something could happen to dd I just wanted her here and now so I said lets to a csection... a decision I will always regret

Do I just go to my OB's office to request them?

Yes if you have a vertical UTERINE incision, VBAC isn't an option. You can have a horizontal uterine incision and a vertical external incision, is that what he was saying? Was there an emergency c-section that would have caused the need for a vertical or a very preterm delivery?

No I have a horizontal visible incision and a the doctor said I have a vertical uterine incision at my pp appointment... she said it casually (as if it were normal) and I didn't ask questions so I don't know if she miss spoke or if that's truly what she meant.

Then I would guess its a no go since that is NOT normal. Especially odd that it's vertical inside and not outside

That's what I've been noticing while I've been doing some research... I'm trying to order my records but so far it's just been a long game of phone tag... ugh
