7wk old breastmilk in bottle for childcare provider

I have to go back to work on march 18. DS will be nearly 3months old at that point. 12wks.. so im having a little bit of babysitting and bottle feeding of breastmilk. Daycare will throw out bottle leftovers after an hour. Obviously we know bm is liquid gold so im trying to figure out how much milk to put in a bottle or whatnot. How much would i xpect him to drink per bottle. I have read lots of things but the ranges are wide. Im storing 4 to 4.5 oz per frozen bag but im thinking I should do several 2oz frozen containers.

So two part question.. how much per bottle now at 7wks versus 12wks? How do u deal w daycare and the possibility of wasting bm?

Hopefully I can have an inhome provider and this wont be an issue.

I always had 4 oz bottles and then 1-2 pz top off bottles on case as was still hungry after 4. If you notice he drinks less maybe only send 3 oz bottles and 1-2 oz top offs.

My parents had my son over night for 2 days about 2 weeks ago (he was almost 2 months old), because we had to get some stuff done around the house (just moved in). They said that he was drinking anywhere from 3-5 oz at a time, every 3-4 hours.
But on that note...he's usually nursing every 2-3 hours for about 45 minutes if he can. So he very much likes his bm.
Honestly you can send a few more smaller bottles, just to make sure that it won't be wasted and he gets full.

Ya.. I will try to pick up more of those lil 2oz storage bottles. Altho i have 8 of them right now. Could be enuf if I just put fresh in them after the frozen is used. My DS likes to b on my boob alot too.. like every 1.5 hours usually at home. . If we are out and about and he falls asleep in car seat he will go 2.5 to 3 sometimes. .

My parents are here from MO and they are constantly commenting on how much he is on my boob. . Saying he cant possibly be hungry. Ibfind it a little irritating and jus explain im feeding on demand..not a schedule. LO has gained abt a pound a week since his 2wk appt so im good w feeding him whenever he wants.

If they'll put it in the freezer, you could get milk storage bags too...that's what I use for my little man. I got a box of 50 of them for like 10$ or something like that.
My mom does that to me all the time. He'll cry, so I feed him...and she'll basically whine about how he was just eating and can't possibly be hungry again. Or he'll puke (not sure why, but every once in awhile he'll puke up pretty much everything he ate like 10 minutes later), so I feed him again...and she'll tell me not to because "he just puked, he's not hungry obviously." Ugh...she had her chance at motherhood, time to let me have mine.

Ya i use those bags. Lanisoh or smthing. Would just feel bad only putting 2oz in them..weird like that

Yeah....something like that. lol I'm too lazy to go downstairs and see exactly.
That's true...I put like 6oz in a bag so that it'll be 2-3 feedings. But that won't work for you. :/

The theory is 1-1.5 ounces per hour. You decide how many ounces you want the bottles to be for less waste. I store in 2oz and that way, if baby is still hungry after the first 2oz, they can prepare another bottle and there won't be much waste.

yeah that's true too and today with my parents watching him there were several times my mom said he only ate like 2 ounces.. of course they just kept the bottle out and fed him again later but it was definitely more than an hour.but the first feeding this morning he drank 5 ounces.

Yeah I don't think bf babies are as consistent about amts because they just eat what they want from tap without regard to ozs. So I'd have small increments to cut down on waste.
