My husband got a $0.25 raise, and it dropped our FS from $180 to $90 a month. That doesn't even help pay for a weeks worth of groceries since my two kids eat li,e 16 year old boys. I'm sure we wouldn't even qualify now that I work

Agree.

I mean, I'm an assistant manager at a multi-million dollar company. Sounds good.... but the wages they pay are just despicable, for the most part. And along with the insane cost of living... sigh.

We make it. We're not on any assistance. But we can't get ahead enough to move out of state to a place with a little better cost of living (and where I'd probably find the same job with higher wages...), which we'd really like to do.

Yup. We're trying to move down south, where we know the COL is cheaper. But we can't even begin to save money because it's spent before we even get it

This is our problem too. We want to move one state away but every time we have extra money something goes wrong. Such is life, I guess. But it's frustrating.

My first question is if you are on any type of assistance why are you having more kids! I know I can't control it, but it really is wrong!! And yes any type of assistance is welfare! You have no business having kids to begin with..it's different if you have kid or two and lose a job or you end up alone with some kids.. I was in walmart the other day with a lady with a a cart full of really nice food and she paid with her food stamps-how do I know? The cashier said oh you can't use food stamps for this particular item!! She had nice birthday cakes and cereal, meat. Nothing generic like my cart had in it...So yes everyone deserves treats but I can't afford them so you are NOT "entitled" to them......I wish they would cut welfare off it's amazing how people would feed their families if they HAD to.

Do you know what would happen to companies and our country if they didnt have welfare purchasing those items? It would crumble. Yes its government money but it helps stimulate and keep businesses going.

Also, look at where your tax dollars are going. The majority of them are lining the fat cats in Washingtons pockets. I'd rather help out a family in need then contribute to them.

I get FS. I'm also a student putting in nearly 40 hours a week while my husband works 45. It's temporary assistance with food costs until I can start my career. I don't see the problem. I had a tubal 2 years ago and I'm working to better my family's situation.

I buy my kids' bday cakes with FS's. It's once a year for them each :/. However, more than 75% of anything else I get is store brand. I find that Walmart's Great Value brand is often times just as good if not better than any name brand. And yes, cutting out welfare will totally solve problems. In fact, thousands of people would lose jobs and kids and people would go without food, and you'd STILL be paying your taxes.

That would not be a solution that would make life harder on those who really need help and others. Welfare employs a lot of people they would lose their jobs. If you are going to complaining about the taxes the goes into that to help people you better learn what else that money goes to like the president throwing parties worth millions of dollars.

My only problem is people who cheat the system to get assistance. I know way too many people who do that and I can't stand it. Or the career babymakers. I know people who have 4-6 kids just to increase their welfare check. I swear some of these people are proud of it and they make it a living to get every type of assistance there is.
