If you are going to only pump an occasional bottle so you can go out or so someone else can feed the baby, I would get a manual one. If you are going to pump a lot, like at work, I would get a Medela double electric. I have one, it works great, has lasted me through 21 months and 15 months of breastfeeding. We shall see how long I go this time!
As for spitting up, I don't know for sure, I can only talk about both my babies, but neither of them had much of a spit up problem. Just at first when they are really little, but nothing major.

The easiest way to learn everything is read all the little blurbs about breastfeeding in baby books, read the questions moms ask here because there are a lot of common problems that can be easily avoided if you're well informed! And mayo clinic suggests not giving a bottle until three weeks.

I have a medula electric pump. I love it! My LO has been feeding about every 2-3 hours and she only spits up if she doesn't burp, which isn't very often. My first was formula fed and she projectile vomited each bottle
