C-Section Date

posted 12th Feb
It is official, I know when my son will be born. Which is very strange to me, to know exactly what day and time my baby will be here. I am not complaining, except for the fact that i have to have a c-section. But apparently LO didn't get the memo that he is suppose to be head down by now lol. So my question for all those that have had a planned c-section. Is there anything in particular that you reccomend I bring with me to the hospital, and how long was your stay, after the c-section. Did they make you stay in the hospital longer because you had the c-section? Sorry i am just a little nervous and trying to prepare myself, because with my last pregnancy i had my DD vaginally and she was VERY early so I have never had to go through any of this before.

i had my c-section at 3.36pm on a monday and was out at 9.30pm tuesday.
and i was only kept in till the evening to monitor a minor infection i had.
I'm pretty sure i would have been out tuesday morning if i weren't still being given anti biotics by drip. x

I highly recommend bringing your nursing pillow with you if you have one. It was a lifesaver as far holding and feeding both of my c-section babies. I also strongly suggest getting thermacare patches for menstrual cramps. Those things felt like heaven on my incision. The hospital I delivered my second daughter at provided them, but not all hospitals do.

You'll probably be in there for around 3 days. I was in for two days after my first, three days after my second and am anticipating three to four days woth this one.

On average, prepare to stay at least 3 days.
I stayed 5 days with my first, 27 hours with my second and 3 days with my third. I'm having my fourth section next Wednesday, the 20th, and am planning on the three days again.

For the most part, bring whatever you normally would for a vaginal birth. I would recommend either using their underwear or bring high rise briefs so your underwear isn't rubbing on your incision.

Good luck

I took my boppy, my own pillow and blanket and toiletries. I also brought baggy Pajama pants because those are more comfy for me than a hospital gown. My c section was at 7am on a Thursday and I went home around 2pm on Saturday.

You are having a c section because your baby isnt head down?

Baby can turn at any moment!

And your dr can turn your baby!

i know a girl that went in for her c-section and baby had turned so they cancelled it and let her go naturally.   x

My baby was breech when I went into labor. My dr gave me the options to turn her, have a c section or deliver breech. I opted for him to turn her and had an awesome delivery!!

They'll still let her deliver naturally if her baby turns before the c-section.

And a lot of women choose not to do the ECV because of the risks.

They monitor the baby very closely. The risks of a ECV outweigh the risks of a c section!

Yes I am having a c-section because my baby is breech. They did offer for me to have an inversion and I was going to until I researched it. Of course everyone has their own opinions about this and this is something me and my husband thought long and hard about but we decided together that we did not want to do the inversion, mainly because if our sons heart rate dropped during this procedure I would be rushed in for an emergency c-section, and we have already had problems with his heart rate. Also I am diabetic and my son is rather large so the doctors told me that the chances of it working are less than that of a woman who doesn't have diabetes. They told me if by some miracle he does turn by the time i go in there on the 21st that they were going to induce me that day. So by c-section or by being induced my son should be here by the 21st
