Based on the info youve given, i would. I wouldnt care if any of my family or friends dated an ex of mine from 5-10 years ago if i hadnt slept with em. Theres a reason we didnt work out and if either of us had wanted to mend the relationship we would have tried by now. Of course id prolly mention it to the family member to get their point of view on it and if they had any problem with it then id respect that and leave it alone.

My sister Dated a Ex of mine I had no emotional connection to the guy anymore but it truly upset me that she would date someone I had spent a small part of my life with like that we didn't talk for months I feel silly now but I did not appreciate it.

there are over 7 billion people on earth. surely you can find someone to date who hasn't dated any members of your family!

I dated a guy for a little over a year in 2002 or 2003. I broke up with him because he was into some not so good stuff and he decided to go to the Navy. He graduated bootcamp and came back home for a while before he got stationed.. he wanted to marry me, asked my parents for my hand and everything. I told him no because I was seeing someone else. 2 days later I walk in my older sister's room to find him asleep next to her. Now they're engaged and have 2 kids together, ages 3 and 4, expecting baby number 3 in May. It never bothered me that they got together afterwards even though it ENRAGED a lot of family because he and I were pretty serious when we were together. She's happy, thats what counts. I couldn't date someone i knew had slept with a family member, its just too weird for me, but it works for some people i guess. Oh, and this is the 2nd ex my sister has dated after i dropped him.. hmmm...

Yeah DH's family was more upset than both D and my ex were. Half of them didn't even Come to our wedding because they were still holding a grudge . Even though it was 6 years later, and everyone moved on.

People constantly tell me I should feel some sort of way about the situation but I can't seem to find any reason to be mad or upset or anything. I didn't want him so why should I care if he dates my sister. Was I a little weirded out the first time she got pregnant, yeah, but only because he had always told me he wanted to have kids with me and had their names picked out and everything. Then when he got my sister pregnant he suggested using the baby names he had come up with when he and I were together. When she told me the names he wanted I was like, OH GOD NO! but i couldn't tell her why I was so against her using those names.. that weirded me out.

My mother was so livid at the situation that she wouldn't even allow him in her house anymore. She still, to this day, won't even speak to him. And she considered him like a son to her. He lived at home with me when we dated because it's the only way anyone could get him to go to school, if I went with him. My mother took him in because he had a bad homelife. But now she hates him, and tells my sister that she can't stand the fact that "she settled for a man who came home to marry your sister".. I keep telling her to get over it. She says she can't.. i think it's childish.

right? I've always found it disrespectful to get with a family members or even a friends ex.

That's so weird to me! Lol it's like since he couldn't have YOU, he went to the next best thig being your sister. Especially wanting to use the same baby names he wanted with you. Lol

I don't think I could date anyone a family member dated, and I think part of me inside would feel hurt but I wouldn't say anything if we just dated.. If I were super close with them and the relationship was serious, I'd always feel like if I were the one to end the relationship that the guy got with my close family member as a close second and vice versa if it were a family members ex. That's just me though.

Wow. That must an interesting dynamic. I don't think that I could ever do that personally. No judgement here. It would just be too uncomfortable a situation for me to handle.

yes. I dated my ex (well now is) for 3 years. he dated my sister 2 years before we got together for a month.
