Cows milk or Step 2 formula?

posted 12th Feb
DD turns 1 tomorrow, and she is currently on President's choice formula. It says 0-12 months. So I am guessing after 12 months it won't provide as much of what she needs? She still has 4 8oz bottles a day, because I wanted her to have as much formula she could for her first year. So how would I go about cutting down on formula? Would she have 4 bottles of cows milk a day like she would usually have her formula? Or should I see about getting another brand of formula that offers a step 2, and give her cows milk a bit during the day?

Did he get the same amount of cows milk or almond milk like he did when he got formula?

Slowly introduce the cows milk, or you could give her a lot of tummy troubles. I would go to a step 2 formula or goat's milk, but that's just me. I don't want to really give my son any milk until around 2 years.

Thanks! She has a real sensitive stomach so I may have to hold off on it. I can try a step two, but hopefully she takes to it like the formula she was previously on. She's outgrown her colic so there's a possibility.
If she did have cows milk for a taste, it's supposed to be whole right?

It really depends on your child's diet, weight, etc. Most children do fine on 2%, if they have a well-balanced diet. If you have a picky eater, then go with whole, because of the higher fat content. Here's Dr. Sears' take on whole vs. skim milk:

I swapped an ounce a week at ten month so by one year he was fully on cows milk
He would take my husbands glass of milk and chug away so I knew he would do fine stomach wise.

That's what I'm going to do tomorrow, I had to hold off cause of her tummy issues but she should be fine now.   Thanks!
