What's the best time to get it done?

I never had it with my first two. I'm not sure if it's like this everywhere, but the place I will be going to, offer them between 26 & 30 weeks.

I'm getting mine done at 31 weeks. I'd say the further along the better but after 28 weeks they look like babies, not skeletons. Google imahe search 3D at __ gestation to get an idea.

everything ive read says the best time to get them is between 28-32 weeks. Bc they actually look like babies and bc they still have enough room for you to be able to get good pics.

My OB and the u/s tech recommend between 28-32 weeks. I am having one done at 28 weeks!

i wouldnt get it done before 28 - 30 weeks but not after 36.

I had mine done at 33 wks 4 days. I loved mine. It was amazing.

I just had mines done at 32 weeks it came out perfect also they advise you drink a lot of water the week before you go it helps get better images!!

The longer they wait the less views they can get because baby is starting to run out of room. I went at 29 weeks, if it wasn't for my placenta being at the front then it would of been great, the actual scan was awesome to watch but we didn't get many decent pictures. Drink lots of water the day before or the day before that to flush the amniotic fluid for clearer pictures  

went to get mine done on my 28th week..but my baby boy wanted to hide his face and play with his foot.. we pretty much only got foot pics.. but we are going again on valentines day(29week) to hopefully get our moneys worth to see his face.. hopefully he wont be in a ball this time.. you cant wait to much longer or he/she will be face planted in your placenta and you wont get any good pictures.

At my facility we recommend 26-34 weeks. There are so many factors that go into good pics, baby's position, placental placement, mommy's anatomy and of course the tech  if your placenta is low and in front try to go earlier rather than later just in case your baby is a snuggler and hides in the placenta. If you are a larger woman, go between 32-34 weeks because the more abdominal tissue the sound waves must travel through, the blurrier the image and a bigger baby will show up better on a large woman. My favorite week to do ultrasounds is week 32 because the clearest images are typically when baby is head down and most babies are head down at that point. Breech babies can be tougher because their position typically forces their feet up and in front of their face and the sound waves may have to travel further across your belly to get a good angle on baby's face  make sure you find out about your chosen facility's "redo" policy just in case your baby doesn't cooperate! A good place will bring you back at no charge!
