sound proofing
posted 11th Feb
I live in apartments that have super thin walls and my neighbors are complaining about my son being too loud, to the point that we could get kicked out. He is 15 months and runs around our living room and runs into the walls. It's absolute BS what they are doing to us but I guess if I don't wanna be homeless with 2 babies, I need to try to sound proof. Does anyone have any good fairly inexpensive ways to help keep some of the sound from getting through the walls?

Take your child and burn off some energy outdoors during the day. That will help him be a little less rambunctious in the home.

Does he have age appropriate toys?

and teach him that he can not run into walls, little ones have to be respectful of neighbors too.

He does it even more when he is tired but fighting sleep.

Take him outside to play if the weather isn't severe. Look into some play areas for kids around your city. We have a place called monkey joes, it's basically an indoor bounce house. He needs to burn his energy.

Then keep him on a consistent schedule.

Unless you plan on doing major construction, I don't believe there's a way to sound proof the walls. Instead, take your LO outside to play, then teach him when you come inside, it's quite time.

Running into walls is kind of annoying, honestly. I live in an apartment and don't mind the noises from above, kids running on the floor, but I'd be mad if someone was knocking on my walls.
Maybe tapestries. Push furniture against the walls. Move the playroom to a central room with no shared walls.

T.i. Was talking about monkey joes on his show. I wondered what it was. But we don't have anything indoor like that.

Well they talked to me and acted like they had no problem, laughed, acted understanding. Then all of a sudden we get a notice. But it's the front door/ wall next to door. There are no central rooms.
Someone just suggested we try sound proofing so thought I would ask about it.
