Can you set up a particular space he can bounce off the wall? My daughter loves it when I prop her mattress against the wall and she can bounce against it. Maybe if you made that an activity he would be less likely to run into other walls.

That sounds dangerous, how does the mattress not fall on her?

What kind of mattress? We could totally try that. He got the idea from people knocking on the door. He likes knocking..

If he is rambunctious because he is fighting sleep, it might be time to evaluate his sleep needs. More snacks at that age is what my kids needed and they still took two naps/ day. My son was crazy so I really had to burn his energy off. I scheduled play times to wear him down so that he was not pent up and bored. Boredom in him meant destruction and him climbing everything. Evaluate his behavior and use what works. If that is a walk after breakfast, snack, books, nap, lunch, park, snack, play, ect.... Arrange his schedule. Plus, that will help get his attention focused so you can start teaching him and gearing him to preschool.

There's not much you can do to soundproof an apartment short of covering an entire room in acoustic treatment but that really only helps with reverb and highs from echo.

To actually soundproof you would need to build a room within a room with an airgap between walls like in a professional studio.

I suggest speaking with the landlords about what it is they want you to do about it, is there any way to block the connecting wall with soft furniture so he can't run into it?

If he likes knocking, you can get something else for him to knock on as well, tell him to knock on the tv stand or bookshelves maybe?

And she has a 6" memory foam mattress so it absorbs everything pretty much, lol. I can also basically fold it in half and make what she calls a "big chair" and she can jump against it that way too. It's sleepharmony brand, I love it  .
