Smurf you Cosleeping

posted 11th Feb
Why do you have to be so nice and comforting?

I'm trying desperately to break Cora of cosleeping. She is almost 5 and I want my bed back

But I'd be lying if I said I won't miss it. I like waking up with her right there. The two of us in fluffy blankets all cozy.

She still gets up 3-4 times a night so I'm hoping that sleeping in her own bed will cut down on it. Or at least cut down on her waking ME up 3-4 times a night.

she happily starts of in her own bed, but usually around midnight, she ends up back in mine. Tonight is the first time I am going to try to put her back in her own bed when she comes in

Wish us luck

Good luck! I'm not looking forward to having to do this with dd in the near future. My sister broke her 5 year old of the habit by moving a twin mattress into her room. He'd go to bed in his room and then come and sleep on the twin in her room if he wanted too. He now sleeps by himself in his own room.

Good luck!

A little less than a month ago we put DS2 in his crib after cosleeping for 12 months. I still cry almost every night when I go to bed cause he isn't there for me to snuggle with

Good luck!! I have a feeling my dd will be like that too. I slept with my parents until I was 10...that's not going to happen with us. I hope...

It is harder on us mommy's than the kids I think!!!

I cried half the night the first time Tate went to his own bed. I just watched him sleep for a while and then couldnt fall asleep nyself. Hubby made fun of me the whole time.

Kiddos are 4 and 2 now and they go to bed at 8:30 with no issues. Bo comes to my bed about half the week really early in the morning. But I think she has been having night terrors because she wakes up screaming.

Tate only comes in at like 7 am or later which is time to get up anyways.

I love having my own bed back but still sneak some cuddles every now and then!

I'm glad it made you laugh! I thought it was appropriate after I found out I'm pregnant

I still do. He would wake up a few times a night still and now he sleeps through the night 5-6 nights a week.

I slept in my moms bed on and off until I was 7 or 8. Mostly just on scary storm nights or for "campouts"

I wouldn't mind if it were an occasional thing, but this every night has to stop

I went through that with Amelie. I was torn, because I enjoyed the cuddling time with her, but I knew we both weren't getting enough rest.

Once I bit the bullet, I didn't realize until it was over how BADLY we both were sleeping. Separate beds made a happier mommy and daughter.

This is what i am hoping for. That we both sleep better.

I did that all through teenagehood and still do it occasionally. Good luck with Cora.

Well that was a total fail.

Cora came into my bed around 11. Ugh. I didn't even notice lol.

But when she got up around 5, she went back to her bed. So that's progress?

Good luck! I understand exactly how you feel. We coslept until my LO was 6 months old, then I moved him to his room. All was well and he slept great! That is until he was 18 months and he had a new freedom with the toddler bed. Then he started to want to be in bed with me and has been ever since. I will try to put him in his own bed after he falls asleep. He is a sleepwalker and normally ends up in my bed at some point anyway. I don't blame him, it is so cozy!
I was proud of myself last week b/c he woke up at 1 and I walked him right back to his room & he slept the rest of the night in his own bed.
