It is funny because it is so true! haha!! Mutilation for cosmetic reasons and... well, besides religious reasons that is it. Enjoyed the laugh!

I clicked this to see what was humorous about circumcision. and then instead of responding right away I had to read the entire thread especially after seeing the first page or so of comments. I find the OP funny but really sad that its true in a way. no matter how many women want to come in saying that its not true, it really is for SO many moms. I have 3 friends with boys who all circed and they had the same reasons "its cleaner. its like daddy" thats it. I even gave them the appropriate information while pregnant to try to get to them to NOT circumsize. But they did it, one of them regretted it almost immediately. (she saw how much pain her son was in afterward every time she changed his diaper or held him in a way that she put pressure on his groin) and knew it wasnt just infant crying for nothing) I honestly do hope that it becomes illegal to electively circ minors. I use to think to each their own but really so many moms are ill informed and only do it because they think its "easier" or because their SO/DH/BD wants it done. It's illegal to circ a girl so really why should boys have to get it done because of their mothers' ignorance?

I think going long periods of time not showering is inexcusable when you have access to water & soap. I come from a family full of intact men who fought in WWII & Vietnam foreskins & all.

My children will shower regularly if they live in my house.

I get both sides of the argument. A lot of people have circ'ed boys for different reasons and they probably feel attacked for making a decision that they thought was a good one. I seriously doubt that anyone intentionally circ'ed their kid to be an smurf. Religious reasons mean that they are doing it because the almighty creator of the universe told them to. So, I can see why they'd be upset about being questioned too.

Then there are the people who feel like it is mutilation of a perfect body for cosmetic reasons and a human rights violation. I can certainly understand why this would piss people off if they perceived the world like this...

well said..however I do think that if it was to become illegal that people will do back allies. Just like abortion. People need to mind their own business. If we all want to get technical feeding children cookies,candy , soda, sugary juices is abuse also then. Putting bad things iin their bodies they don't need or asked for.

And thats my thing, if we make circumcision illegal are we setting a precedent that parents cannot make the best decisions for their children and we need more laws on how to parent?

They made female infant circ illegal in the late 90's & look at what hell broke out after that.
