Meet Aizaea, the love of my life. He started learning things at a very young age, he started walking when he was 10 months, was counting to 10 when he was 1.5 and learned his abcs, his name, his parents name, his address, his birthday, yes he knows all of that. However, he is 3 years old and doesnt know his colors, what any of the letters are, how to spell his name, his shapes...and he isnt trying to learn   i got a months free trail at abcmouse.com but he didnt even want to try! im having a hard time teaching him things, can somebody give me advice? I need to know how I can teach him without making him feel like im forcing stuff on him. Help >_< i get so jealous when hes around other kids and they know so much more than him!   I dont want him to feel left out!

Put him in a preschool program with other children his age. A program with a curriculum. They're trained in teaching children and the socialization and motivation from his peers will help.

I think it is you that doesnt want to feel left out, honestly. :/

Don't force anything on him, the more you do, the more it won't be fun for him.

Try each week having a letter, number, shape, and color to introduce.

Here is a great site for crafts and ideas that I use with my preschool aged girl.

Be creative, messy, fun, and short. They have VERY short attention spans. If he gets frustrated, take a breather and try again later or try something else.

Throughout the day, point things out. If he is playing with a red car, tell him how you love his RED car. Point out how those wheels are circles.

Get cookie cutter ABCs from Michaels and play dough and let him cut out the ABCs with them.

Just don't worry about it. He sounds very smart and there is no need for a pissing contest with other children.

Oh man, that's the perfect name to turn into a spelling cheer!

A-I-Z!
A-E-A!
What does that spell?
AIZAEA!!!

You mentioned he's three, I don't know when his birthday is but if he is closer to 2 than 4 he still sounds right on track for sure. Even if not, he's still showing the ability to learn, he just may not learn in the same way you've noticed his peers do. Perhaps preschool would be a good idea to figure out his learning style. Some kids need to hear things aloud (sounds like him, if he learned his ABCs early and is good with memorizing things he's told, but not at recognizing things written down or colors. This might make spelling sing-songs a good call), some kids need to touch, some kids need to see visually etc... It doesn't sound like there's anything to worry about, you just need time to figure out his style. 3 is still so young, he has time to catch on to these things.

Try putting him in preschool, it will help he will have the time to socialize with other kids and grown ups, and might learn more with them.
