Just heard from the ENT

And my son was approved to get his tonsils and possibly adenoids removed. I'm still highly nervous but I know it's for the best.

I had my tonsils removed when I was in grade 5. It hurt for a week and then I was fine. It was so worth it. I hated getting tonsillitis every month. Now I only get sick once every year or two and its just a cold.

I hope that's how he will be. Strep every 4-6 weeks is just ridiculous. He's had WAY too many antibiotics. Something has to change.

After chronic issues for years, step/tonsillitis non stop I finally got mine out. I wish I had them out as a kid. I have been sick once since getting them out almost 4 years ago. My ENT told me once you get constant strep or tonsillitis you cant completely rid your tonsils of the bacteria, just take meds and suppress it for a while until it comes back. Good luck, im sure he will feel so much better without them!

Ah ha. I was wondering why he kept getting it after antibiotics. Good, at least I know. His ENT never said that but I kinda figured that's what was happening, he never got over it. Just suppressed it until it multiplied enough to flare back up.

Yep. I was told those who get it chronically it gets into the deepest tissue of the tonsil. I also was told that I would be surprised how much better I feel over all after having a bacteria laden organ removed. That once my body wasnt constantly fighting something that is feel great, and I have. I was sick every few months, was the worst!
