Why not if you know where it is coming from?

Because I don't know of it was properly used and cared for. My child's safety is more important than saving a few bucks. In CA it's actually illegal to sell used seats. A car seat is the one thing that should always be bought new. Most warranties would also not cover the seat once its transferred owners.

I agree with all of that, if it is coming from a complete stranger. My question was mainly pertaining to the fact it is a G1 and not a G2.
Though I did not know about the warranty with transferring owners

It does look like the g1 will work with the g2 but you can always ask on their FB or call them to make sure.

The G2 toddler seat IS compatible with the G1 chassis. No, I would not get it. We had the G1 and the stroller is extremely tippy [especially with the seat facing mom], the underbasket is a joke, it's hard to push 1 handed which is a simple feature I expect from a luxury stroller.
The G2 I would consider, I love the side kick board. Just not sure I'm willing to risk it tipping, again!
