If you had a kid in 7/8th grade that wants to stay home from school all the time, and you know it's because of problems she has with classmates? (bullying, fighting- arguments not physical). would you let them stay home every so often or make them go and deal with it? Homeschool or switching schools is not an option.

but I would be working with the school to find out the problem and fix it. And possible get him/her into self defense classes

I'd be up at that school everyday and if nothing was being done, I'd take legal action against the kid and school if needed.

I would get to the bottom of everything that was going on and try to put a stop to it. I wouldn't let them stay home all the time because for one they need to be there to get their education, and two, here, once the child misses so many days they put the child on truancy and eventually it could cause the parents and the child to be in deep smurf.

my brother always tries to stay home from school he wont tell my mom why just trys to stay home....she tells him to go to school...she not very stern with it, but if it was my child i would probably talk to the principle or see if theirs a different class she could be put in to kinda escape those classmates....i would talk to teachers as well but definatly see if there is another class they could put her in cause here at the jr highs they have lke 4 different classes for each grade

Id be doing whatever I could to keep my child from being bullied, but they still need to go to school. If it came down to it, I would transfer my daughter to a different middle school

I would not let them stay home because of it. Like the other girls said, I would be trying to find a solution.

here, if a parent writes an excuse then it doesn't count against the child.

Oh, well here the parent can write an excuse, but you're only allowed to have 5 parent excuses for the entire year (doctor's excuses are a different story).

I had the same problem, I would pretend sickness to get away from school, mom found out I was being bullied after she found a few bruises I couldn't explain, put me in homeschool, we didn't have the option at the time to go to a different school. Chances are, the bullies are going to be hard to stop..I'd be looking into a different school if I had to. Teenagers/pre-teens can be brutal.

this is a very small school in a small town. pre-k through 3rd in one building. the other building was "L" shaped. 4th-6th in one hall 7th and 8th in another. 2 classes for each grade.

funny you say this...i'm actually talking about me...my parents just told me i needed to stand up to the people, but it did no good..

well if theirs 2 classes per grade their is another class she could transfer too..however i would talk to teachers and principles and let them know what going on and hopefully they will talk to the student that are bullying her and watch the students to make sure they stop

I would keep them home. I know what it's like, I've been through the same thing... I was forced to go to school, and it did not help.

What if it was more than in just that class? what if it was also other grades?
