Our last name ends in an N as well! I don't think it's a biggie. The name right now for us is 'October Cole Stephen'.. You can only imagine how people try and suppress their reactions when we say the name is most likely going to be October.. But IDGAF. I think it's unique without being weird. People have named their kids, June, April, May, August, January and even September.. I don't think it's that odd.

Thanks.. we like it. I think it has the right blend of unique but manageable.. everybody can say/spell "October". Cole is my Mother's maiden name. I just like how it all flows.

If it was a name I had my heart set on, it wouldn't bother me at all. I'd respect her opinion and name my child. If it were a name I had settled on with SO I might reconsider.

Mmm, complicated in this situation.

I had picked Hailey as a first name...One of my best friend's absolutely hated it. When I had mentioned what her name was going to be, I was totally pissed off by her reaction.

Now, I didn't end up using Hailey, since it didn't suit her. I switched it when she was born, but I did respectfully tell my friend that I really didn't care about what she thought of the name, and that the name was my choice.

maybe she just doesn't like daddy. And has resentment for the name? Idk. That and maybe she thinks she's saying the right thing, being on YOUR side, agreeing with you, since you don't like it either. I didn't care for my best friends son's name. And now 4 years later I'm starting to see it everywhere (Kellan), but it totally fits him. But I NEVER told her I didn't like it, ever, and partly because she was having a lot of gender disappointment at first.
