They suspended him and didn't tell me.

So a while back I posted on how Jacob had harmed himself so much that school asked us to come and get him, because the school was afraid that with him harming himself and him bleeding because of it, that we would hold the school liable.

We were informed that by coming to pick up Jacob would result in a voluntary leaving, and not a suspension. Which is what we were trying to avoid.

No one told us he was suspended, in fact exact words were, "We think it's best if you come get Jacob so we can prepare for this tomorrow"

So we did.

I got the notice in the mail on Saturday, that he was in fact suspended for that day The box that "conference with parents" and "parents notified" was even checked.

We were unaware that he was suspended. No one told us.

So I've been phoning the principal but she decided to come in on time to go to a meeting.

Now I'm more than pissed. Do I wait it out for her to get out of the meeting? Or just phone into the special ed district office and make my complaint there?

I'd call the superintendent's office and/or the special education department. Did the principal know you'd been calling?

I would call the main office/superintendent

I'd wait and talk to her first. Lylian got in trouble at school a few weeks ago (they use a merit and demerit discipline system). We were told she just got a warning and then last week I got a demerit form in her folder. I was LIVID cause they're supposed to email you if they get one. Plus I was told it was a warning. Well I found out it was at first going to be a demerit but when it got to the dean(principal) they said it wasn't worth giving a demerit and it would just be a formal warning. But the forms were already filled out so they sent it home. But it was a miscommunication.

No but I already texted his teacher pretty pissed off about it with a picture of the suspension so she would know I wasn't lying.

He was "suspended" for a half day for harming himself per Battle Ground codes, it can't be reversed because we all have picture evidence it happened. It just pissed me off it happened and they didn't tell me.

There's no way it could have accidentally got put through that way? I'd get to the bottom of it with who put it through a suspension and if youre not satisfied work your way up the chain until you get your way.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm calming myself down by going to thegrocery store. Then I'm going to phone her and if I'm not happy I'm reporting them to the head of special ed.

It might be better to talk to her while you're not heated anyway.

Yeah so now I'm just more frustrated. When I called back she was in an assembly. And plus I told you the family connection.

So yep, nasty voicemail that I wanted to talk to her about suspending him, even though I knew she wouldn't reverse it, and not notifying us, and that if I didn't hear from her soon, I would report them to the head of special ed.

I'd try to go in and talk about it. If that doesn't work go the next step up!

*Last year my daughter was left forgotten and locked inside her classroom for 45 minutes, when the buss arrived to my house and i didn't see her my heart dropped, i went to the school & the teacher and 2 teacher assistance ladies didn't notice my daughter was missing in the bunch, She is in Special ed too and can't talk much, and gets distracted very easily. I took my daughter out of that school.

I really want to remove him but if I remove him there is no school for him. I talked to her and told her everything and how I really feel like they're not meeting his needs there. And she of course said the same thing that everyone says there, "Jacob has improved SO much.....academically." Um no smurf.

But yeah, she said that she's going to talk to the person that chose to suspend him and see if we can get it overturned. I don't expect it to though.

The most depressing thing is that Jacob wrote a book. And he's very proud of it.

But it's so depressing.

And you see him, clearly drawn, in a corner away from everyone else. And that's what I'm talking about that school not meeting his needs. He wants to interact and be with everyone else, but his school can't figure him out yet to help him so he can interact with others and succeed.

I'm bringing it to therapy tonight. Don't worry.

Awwe poor little man   I just wanna hug him. This made me tear up.
