your daughter & puberty

posted 11th Feb
when did it start? DD just turned 9 and the only physical thing i've noticed is she's getting underarm hair. she gets really emotional around the same time i PMS, so maybe she is too??? idk, its a scary thought.

i know they say most girls develop when their mom did, as well as start their period around the same time. i was 10(for developing) and 11(for my period)

so i guess i'm asking if your daughter has started showing signs yet and did her ages coorespond with you?

I started developing breasts and growing body hair when I was either 8 or 9. I was in 4th grade...I got my first period when I was 11. My mom didn't start puberty until 12. I don't have a daughter but I've heard girls are starting it younger and younger.

my daughters ten and showing no signs whatsoever. however i didnt start untill i was 14-15 so thats when i think she will. however i do think its time to start talking to her about changes as i want her to be fully aware when the time comes. plus she has already asked me about towels ect.

DD has some sports bras that i bought her over the summer. she had some tank tops and if she leaned forward you could see her chest so we bought her some sports bras to wear underneath. she still wears them daily cause "its cool to wear a bra". but she knows about periods. she wants to know when exactly and i told her i cant answer that lol. i think the major thing is going to be her emotions

this conversation scares me :/ my girls are only 2 and 3.. but I dread it. I started developing breasts when I was in the 5th grade.. so 11 years old, but only really needed a bra to hide my nips. I "needed" a bra in the 6th grade. started shaving legs and armpits around then.. and then started my period the day after my 13th birthday.

my boys are 6 and 8, and I will leave that completely to their dad... I had the basic "where do babies come from?" and "why did daddy have a vasectomy?" talk with them, but I have no experience in the field of male puberty...

Well I have two step daughters, who are 11 and 9.

The oldest now has teeny buds she calls her boobs( more like swollen nipples if you ask me but hey! I remember calling swollen nipples boobs too at some point ;) )...she also has darker body hair( and a mustache...poor girl   )

Oh and her belly swells around the same time every month and she gets super duper emotionnal and dramatic around the time her belly swells. She ahd cramps a few times, but no first period yet. I dread it.

my 6 y/o son(7 in april) is very....outgoing about talking about his parts. i had DH talk to him about and he seems to have calmed down. but its awkward with him talking about "willy getting big" like, hush son! idk why that happens, lol

yeah my daughter started wanting bras to, (the cool factor) she asked about my towels and bleeding, but we have never had a full convo with regards to it.. ive never found the right time.. maybe i am just scared of her turning into a young ladie.. shes still into disney, glitter and dolls (wish i could keep this!) lol however ive noticed shes paying more of an intrest in the "boybands"   however my times running out i guess. and with regards to emotions.. ugh.. nightmare, i remember myself going threw this... worst time of my life!!!

My daughter is only 5 months but my sister has an 11 year old daughter. My sister started her period when she was ten and her daughter started when she was eight. Poor girl   I was 8 when I needed a bra but my mom wouldn't buy them for me until I was around 11, so I got made fun of a lot because you could always see down my shirt when I bent over and see my nipples through my shirt--thanks a lot mom. I started my period when I was 12 or 13. I am hoping my LO won't start her period or developing quite as soon as my niece and I.

My best friend's daughter has the same symptoms, she is 10 and started having the symptoms when she was 9. So far no period yet. My friend thinks it will probably come around 11 when hers (the moms) did.

My 14 year old dd started her period when she was 13. She sarted to develope when she was 11/12. She's still very small chested, but so am I so I don't imagine she'll have much boobage.
My 11 year old will probably start sooner. She's been developing "boobs" for the past year and had some pretty bad mood swings. I started my period when I was 12 almos 13. And didn't wear a bra till 5th grade.

I know! and she is sooo tall and got boobs really young. Everyone makes fun of how tall she is, calls her shrek, and she bends her legs in pictures to look like she isn't taller than her friends. I have tried to tell her being tall is awesome and everyone will be jealous of her later but I know it doesn't really get through to her.
