So you would place a pregnant 18 year old adult who already graduated high school, living on her own or with a roommate or whatever, driving a car and working, in the same category as a pregnant 15 year old living with her parents, still in high school, can't drive, can't live on her won for another couple of years and can't work more than x amount of hours?

I would call them both teenagers, LOL I already clarified what I think of when I think of a "pregnant teenager" you quoted it so I'm sure you didn't miss it. It still doesn't change the fact that no matter the situation they are both pregnant teenagers since they are both in their teens. My 18 year old sister is a teenager, if she got pregnant she would still be a teenager.

So how do you feel about teen pregnancy as a whole? Approve or disapprove?

Of all people, a teen mom should be the one who most disapproves of teen pregnancy because she knows how hard it is to be a teen mom.

For some teen moms its not hard- I had a 17 yr old friend who pawned her daughter off on babysitters & her parents and didn't take any financial responsibility & my little sister knows a 16 yr old that does the exact same. For those teens they haven't been smacked with reality & they're still out partying, etc. so it is very easy for them.

Even if she is considered an adult by law (depending on what state you are in) she is still a TEEN

I have mixed feelings, in some situations I think it's fine, others I don't. I don't have a general feeling about teen pregnancy because I tend to look at each situation differently.

That's not parenting. If they aren't parenting, of course its easy. All they did was pop out a kid. For those who are actually taking care of and providing for their children, they would know it was hard.

In NE you're not an adult until 19...but my OBGYN said that 19 is still a teen pregnancy because of your body not being fully developed yet. IMO if you are responsible and able to support your self and your baby, as well as in a stable relationship then go for it. It pisses me off to see these teens that are TTC when you ask them how they are going to provide for this baby and they say well when I'm pregnant the state of blah will pay for all of my Dr. visits and stuff like that. When I got pregnant with DD we weren't trying but we could afford it even being high risk and not being able to work, but I was trying to hold off getting pregnant for another 10 years because DH and I wanted to build our house and travel before we settled down and we didn't get those opportunities

I had my daughter when I was 19 and was still under the teen pregnancy category at Kaiser. Though I don't understand your OB's logic. A female's body doesn't stop developing at age 19, neither does a male. If that was the case, we'd be considered teenagers until we were damn near in our mid 20's.

I had my son at 19 and I was treated like an adult through the whole process. I would not have been pleased if they put me in the same category as 16 and 17 year olds.

I agree, that's how some teens are though.

Actually, a lot of psychology classes teach you that the terms teens and adults really only focus on age and shouldn't be used to classify body and mental or physical maturity. Mental maturity generally occurs when the frontal lobe has finished maturing which doesn't usually happen until mid-20's. Cognitive abilities such as problem-solving and impulse control are lacking until the frontal lobe has matured. So, technically speaking, you're somewhat correct.
