taxes (education credit ladies)

we have an education credit so our taxes are delayed. filed the 27th with H&R. up until today, H&R's website has said "no data available" for our refund status. today it says "your return has been successfully transmitted, please check irs.gov for further info" irs.gov is down.   hopefully this means they will process it ASAP and get us our refund this week.

our car's steering went out so now we cant drive. DH is walking and taking the bus to/from work which is scary because of the area.

anyway, if you had an education credit, have you seen a difference on irs.gov or on H&R's site?

I'm sorry... we're dealing with the same thing. Filed on the third, but we got an email back Friday saying sometime next week they'd start processing returns with the education credit. We're in need of it ASAP too. DH needs to travel across country for his dad's funeral, and last minute airfare is NOT cheap.

I hope so too. We've never really cared before either about when we get them back. But we really need the airfare.   I hope you get yours accepted too. A car is pretty damn important!

 
I'm waiting on ours too because of this. This is the first time I"ve had to claim education...go figure.  

Good to know they plan on processing them next week.

ETA: Our federal is how we pay rent for the year.   Luckily, our landlord is also DH's boss so he knows it's coming and is being patient.

It's so stupid.. it's a big chunk of our refund! Now that Zoe is 17, we don't get the child tax credit for her anymore. So just for Liv, the interest on the house, and then the education credit, which is 2500 back! SOOOOO many people are in school, and for them not to have this pretty big deduction set up on their computer yet, is just plain dumb.

That's what the email said when DH got it... I think Wed of this week (as in 2 days). That would be awesome.

Thank god.
I won't rest easy until we hand over our year's rent to our landlord.
