Jace's Labor Story (TONS of pics)

I’ll try not to make this too long and get down to the good stuff at the end.  



I woke up on February 7, 2013 at around 4:30 am to contractions that were only maybe 6 minutes apart. After days of Braxton hicks, I didn’t want to get my hopes up thinking that this was the real thing; so I decided to go lay down on the sofa and time my contractions. It only took 5 or 6 contractions for me to realize that they were getting longer and closer together, as well as more painful. I always heard that it’s best to labor at home, so I made up my mind that I’d wait till around 8am when SO to wakes up to go in to l&d. Surprisingly I pulled through the two hour wait until SO woke up and then rushed him out the door (poor guy had no idea what was going on when I was basically pushing him out of the front door.)

When we got to l&d, I was 4 and a half cm dilated (was only a fingertip at my 39 weeks apt on that Monday morning before.) So my OB made me walk for an hour and when he rechecked, I was 5cm and officially having our baby. We got moved to a big room and about 30 minutes later my doctor came in and checked me, I was 6 cm; so he broke my waters. An hour and a half later and still only 6 cm, I made the stupid mistake of getting the epidural (I believe this slowed my labor tremendously.) Around 6:45 pm (about 2 hours later) my OB came to recheck, still only a 6; but now Jace’s little heartbeat was slowing drastically with the small contractions my body was still having and he had had a bowel movement while still inside. My doctor thought that a c-section was best and as long as my son was healthy, I didn’t object. We got all prepped and went to the back. I must say, c-sections SUCK. But Mr. Jace Andrew Kyle D----- was born at 7:26pm weighing 6 lbs, 14 oz and 20 inches long. He was perfect and healthy in every way. And now for the fun stuff..

Congrats! He is precious. I had my daughter on feb 7th at 7:13pm via emergency c section.

he's very cute. sorry you ended up with a c-section. one of the many reasons i would never go with an epi. just isn't worth it.
btw, do you have a window in your house where you can catch some sunshine? that's all a jaundiced baby needs!!

just sitting on his bear sofa next to the window for a couple days cleared Dexters jaundice up in no time!   and he was pretty damn yellow! lol.

Awwe he's gorgeous Amanda!!! That's crappy getting stuck at a 6   you were progressing so well before that. Glad he's here safe though. Now u can join our csection club haha

That depends on the reasoning behind the jaundice. If it's a more serious issue (such as a positive on the Coombs test), stronger intervention may be needed.

possibly, but for the most part sunshine is all they need. both of my babies got pretty yellow and cleared it up within a week of sunshine.

That was my daughter as well.

My son ended up at home with a billi blanket for nine days because his system couldn't seem to getting going due to the blood type incompatibility. He looked like a tiny robot that glowed blue  .
