My baby is 2 months and 6 days old and she LOVES her binkie!! When is the best time to try to get them off the binkie? And what do you do when they cry for it? Cause I know some people say the CIO method is bad

My kids all had theirs for a while. My son was just over two, my first daughter was just under two and my third just gave hers up last week at 19 months old. They were all very attached to them but after whining for a few hours and that first bedtime, they didn't care anymore.

Some people say that as long as its gone by age four it's fine but I would suggest trying to wean as soon as possible because for some kids it's hard and it can also cause dental problems/speech delays. With this baby I'll probably start limiting it to nap and bed time around 9-12 months.

They say around 2 - for the sake of their teeth.

Our LO is 22mo and still uses one at bedtime/naptime.. i use the MAM perfect for him because im paranoid about his teeth.

Our 4mo only takes the gumdrop though.

also using it up until a year can reduce the risk of SIDs so they say.

I've used MAM with all of my kids also and have never had teeth problems because of them but at her first dentist visit last week, the dentist tried to blame her over bite on it   She only used it while she slept and since none of my other kids had a problem with theirs, I assumed he was just reaching for an excuse but either way it scared me enough to take it away. If for whatever reason it is because of the paci, I hope it goes away now that shes off of it!

I took it away at age 1 with all my kids. They were still young enough that it was only a couple difficult days... and not so old that it caused tooth, or speech problems.

I plan to around 6-9 months. But with the way things are looking he won't be a paci boy anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard to wean him.

I stopped offering a paci at 2months old. lol

my son never liked his, he always refused it. if i tried to give it to him he would just spit it out. its been about 2 months since ive even tried to give him one, and hes 6 months old now.

my nephew LOVED his. he always had it, my sister even had to start hiding them because he wanted it 24/7 - but he always managed to find one lol i remember once when he was about 1 she took him to the doctor (just for a regular check up) and he had it, the doctor yelled at her for letting him have one at his age. and he was only 1.

i think my doctor is just a hardass though lol she told me not to give my son anything but formula until he was 6 months, and now she told me only give him rice cereal, no baby food.
