Car Seat Review

posted 11th Feb
I want to share this becuase I dont want other parents to go through what I have gone through with my car seat issue - although uncommon the companies service is where I am frustrated. This is the review I have sent to Baby Trend's FB page after my recent issue

Let me start off by telling you I am a single mom on a limited income. I am very upset with the quality of your product. Before I had a child and saw your products in store I thought they looked goofy - particularly the handle of the car seat, but then I carried my friends son in her Baby Trend carrier and fell in love. The car seat never hit my leg or anything... This being the ONLY plus of your car seat. I requested a travel system on my registry. My son was born 15 days late. I used it for aprox. 1 month before my car seat broke. And I am not talking the fabric ripping or some cosmetic problem. The clip that holds my car seat in the base broke. So I called the company and explained my issue, you guys had me take pictures and email them. it was still under the 180 "Warranty" (I dont consider what you guys have a warranty) Your very friendly agent offered to email me a shipping label to have my car seat part repaired... yes REPAIRED. Now I have a few issues with this... 1) What do I do with out a car seat for the 10-15 days it takes for you guys to fix it, you don't offer a loaner car seat nor could your agent give me a answer. (Reminder single mom, limited income I cannot simply go and BUY another car seat) 2) Everyone I have talked to, including a police officer, has agreed that repairing this part does not seem safe. 3) The "warranty" you have would not be extended so if the part broke again, I would be SOL.

Your rep told me if I wanted a replacement car seat I should take it back to where I bought it. Which does not accept returns after 90 days, and it is only sold online so they cannot accept return with out recipit because they have no way to scan it into their system. So here I am with a now two month old and a broken car seat. I have to strap him in with a seat belt every time we get into the car.

I have friends who used Graco, the had a car seat given to them by another friend who's child out grew their car seat. Something (the rain hood I believe) went wrong something that a simple replacement part would have fixed with no safety concerns, my friend called Graco, and sure enough 15 months after their Warranty expired they said they would be sending a NEW CAR SEAT, and to please send the broken one back in the box. I met a stranger on a mountian pass one day towards the end of my pregnancy before my baby shower, and asked her about her car seat by Safety First (a part of Graco) she had told me she just recived them from the company because she had hit something at 10 mph, it had been past the warrenty date on her infant car seat and her older son's booster, and the company told her she should replace the car seats but they would be fine until she found a new one. Two days later on her door step were two 3 in 1 car seats for her two children. Judging by the service I have been given by you guys you would NEVER do that.

You guys do not stand behind your product. I have many friends having babies right now and I am advising to all of them to buy a Graco, Cosco, or Safety First car seat because thoses companies stand behind their product. They would replace the carseat as a whole not just the part.

I am very upset with your product and will not buy from your company again. The plus of the car seat not hitting my leg and not being awkward to carry does not out weigh my son's (or any child's) safety in my eyes. I would much rather be uncomfortable carrying my son then to have him not secure in my car.

Please know I have shared this information with every parenting board, I am on. Including buy/sell/trade pages on FB, Baby-Gaga.com, and others.

I just read to the brand and stopped but know companies can and do delete negative posts from their FB pages. If you want to possibly be heard and get a resolution see if they have a twitter account and tweet them. They cant delete it and I have gotten the best customer service through tweeting companies.
