Feeding

posted 11th Feb
Since my son became more alert around 3 ish months (he's 4 mons today) he has become almost impossible to feeding he is nearly jumping the whole time, his hands are is worst enemy hitting the bottle and knocking it out of his mouth every 30 seconds and he turns his head either all the way toward me and no room for the bottle or all the way away from me and I can't reach his mouth I almost have to hold him down and hold his head still just to feed him.....EVERYTIME! Its like he's thrashing around kicking only when eating. He ends up with more formula up his nose then in his mouth....am I the only one cause I have 5 nephews and they were never so crazy when trying to feed them..??

DS has started doing this recently. He's 3.5mo. it doesn't really bother me all that much but it drives DH nuts! He doesn't thrash around so much as to get formula all over him...but the knocking the bottle out of my hands, accidentally pushing it away, turning away, turning into my boob...he does all that. I suppose it's normal. I didn't really think anything of it.

Yea maybe its a "normal" thing. I just kinda thought he was doing it at first because he was more alert and looking around but he will do it even when he wakes up at night to eat and I keep things totally dark and he will be half asleep jumping around lol. Their poor hands are their own enemy he wants to hold the bottle so bad and I don't want to discourage it but aaahhhh!! I've considered swaddling but I swaddle him at night so as soon as I wrap him he's out he wouldn't eat....I've found the only way to feed him without formula going up his nose and all over his face is to lay him down propped up while I hold the bottle. He's not a touchy clingy baby so maybe he just doesn't want me holding him to feed him? Why don't these guys come with how to books!?

Mine are crazy like that too. I have an especially hard time trying to feed them outside of the house! I find feeding them in their room where it is quiet and boring with the lights turned low helps them focus.
