Is this normal?

Ok so I went to the dentist for the first time in my life on Thursday I had one tooth pulled and one tooth filled. I found the dentist in the phonebook and by the time I found this dentist I was so happy to be getting seen finally that I forgot to ask weither he was a male or female doctor. Mind you I haven't seen a male doctor for anything since I was molested by a male doctor when I was 6. There are some things that happened while I was being seen that made me uncomfortable but at the same time I don't know if what he did was normal for a dentist apt or not. After seeing my xrays he told me he needed to look at my teeth which I was fine with. But after he went over my whole mouth with that little mirror and pick thing he kept poking at and messing with my teeth and mouth. Like when he was telling me how he was surprised how clean my teeth where seeing as how I don't floss he kept running his finger over my teeth. Then when he found a little bit of plaque along my gum line he was telling me how to angle my toothbrush to take care of it while rubbing his finger along my tooth to I guess show me what he meant. Then when he started talking about the kind of toothbrush his wife uses his started rubbing his finger along my tooth kinda like an electric toothbrush would. Then after all that he started rubbing his fingers along all my teeth and gum line again then on the insides of my lips and cheeks then he told me I actually had really cute teeth. The more I think about what happened the more crept out I get about it but at the same time I don't just want to jump to the conclusion that he is just a dirty old man because IDK if that is something that would normally happen at a dentists apt KWIM? I talked to SO about it seeing as how I made him stay in the room with me because it was my first time at a dentists and because the dentist was a male but he fell asleep in the office and didn't wake up until they started drilling my tooth so he didn't see what happened.

I think you're over reacting honestly. My mom gets comments from every dentist she goes to about how nice and perfect and blah blah blah her teeth are. That's like going to an eye doctor and them saying "hey by the way, you have pretty eyes." They see a lot of them, if something catches their eye they may make a comment.

Yes it's pretty normal. He shouldn't have said "cute" he should have said "nice". They always rub their finger in there. Sometimes it's easier to feel abnormalities rather than just see it. As for him saying what tooth brush his wife uses hrs trying to recommend a tooth brush that he gets someone close to him to use.

That all sounds normal, amd friendly. I am very paranoid when it comes to being sexual because of an abusive relationship I was in, but it's just because you're a victem I think. Your doctor didn't seem out of line imo. Maybe switch to a female so you're more comfortable next time

Honestly the comment didn't bother me so much as his continually rubbing his fingers around my mouth. But like I said before I have no idea if that is normal or not that's why I asked on here. And the main reason Im asking these questions is because I need to have a few more teeth filled and I wanted to know if I should take SOs advice and go back to him or find another dentist like I wanted to do.

LMAO I would have bit the living smurf out of him if that happened! I just didn't know if it was normal or not and it was starting to bother me not knowing KWIM? That's why I came on here to ask questions before I let myself freak myself out about it too much.
