Am I out of line?

DS is 5 and he is in full day Kindergarten (because our lovely court paperwork is forcing us to put him into a public school)...

We got a letter home the other day saying that he was bouncing a ball in the hallway after recess. (We asked DS and he said he was on his way to putting it back on the little ball rack.)

Somehow bouncing a ball escalated to his teacher physically restraining him and dragging him down to the principals office. And from the way the letter was worded, it was the teacher making the escalation happen. Not DS.

Why in the smurf is bouncing a ball that big of a smurfing deal? It's trivial!

Seriously this kid gets sent to the office for EVERYTHING just because he started off the year with some issues. (Hmm. maybe that's what happens when the kid has gone through that much smurfing trauma in his life.)

Literally, a few months ago, a punishment escalated to physically restraining him and making him sit in the office for FIVE hours over DS needing a fresh piece of paper. A PIECE OF MOTHER SmUrfING PAPER!

I'm so smurfing fed up. They don't want to take the time to understand this child and his issues. They're making it worse.

On top of that, he tested out of 1st grade last week academically yet they won't just let him TRY going into 2nd grade next year because he is "too naughty..."

Dude, 90% of his issues will go away if he skips a grade. He straight up told us he gets so frustrated and whatnot because he is bored and his teacher is mean to him.

Transfer school?

Could you get his teacher switched? I remember I acted like an ass in kindergarten because I was way ahead of the other kids and was bored.

I was a naughty child in primary school I hated my classwork, finished before all the other kids and the teachers made me sit there and refused to give me any harder work so I got bored and caused trouble.!!
I would definitely be complaining!

You are in NO WAY out of line. THEY are. They're mistreating your son.

Well DH also skipped first grade. He was in this SAME EXACT predicament.

According to the school, we cannot transfer middle of the year and there is only one teacher per grade till 4th grade.

I'd look into switching schools all together then. They are being abusive towards him.

We have complained. Apparently everyone short of the BOE is in on it. We were gonna get a behavorial IEP but even then there is so much we can do. I cannot wait to go back to court so that we can get that removed and send him elsewhere.

You think that's being abusive? I do, and I have many of my own ideas on how to handle him but NOBODY will smurfing listen to me even though I'm the one raising the kid.

Call your local CPS and they can investigate it.

I hate that you have to send him there. Poor boy. Them physically restraining him is NOT going to do any good and I have no idea why they would think it's acceptable. I know it must be so hard for you both.

I'd switch teachers or switch schools. As you said, it is over very trivial things. That is utterly ridiculous.

I would be putting him in another school. That's a load of crap. The SCHOOL is out of line. Really?! And why the hell are they punishing him for needing PAPER?! (goes to show how idiotic people are these days smh...)
