Room temp + a 3.5 month old

posted 10th Feb
His baby monitor tells me the temp of his room and currently it's 68 degrees. He's wearing a long sleeve onsie, some thick socks and is bundled up under a quilt. Is this too cold? This is the first time I've let him sleep in his crib b/c we finally got his crib bumper.

I'm all paranoid. ><

Kind of cold for me... I like it at 70 or 71

Yup, that's optimal actually. But he should not have a quilt at that age.

I guess my question should be...Do you think he's adequately clothed/covered for that temp???

As a general rule, they tell you to dress the baby the same way you dress yourself for the temps. If you're chilly and need a heavier blanket, maybe put another layer of clothes on baby or use a thicker blanket.

Sounds about fine. I usually like to stick to 70. And he is too young for a quilt.

Or bumpers really... I think it's okay when they can roll over both ways, but I cannot remember what age that is....

That's a good temperature, in my opinion. If you're comfortable, then baby is good. I wouldn't use a quilt, though.

I've to the mesh breathable bumpers.

It stays 68-70 degrees in my house in the winter. My LO (4 months old) would roast in all that. Lol. The rule of thumb is one more layer than you need to be comfortable. So, are you cold in his room? No? He's good then.

I would wear jammie pants to bed even under a blanket. Im always super cold. But my daughter always slept in a onesie and always sweat so much she never had blankets... so just depends on the baby i guess! He's probably fine.

good idea but I still don't think they are approved as "safer" although I would buy one over a regular one.

Not if he has head control. DD could roll both ways by 2.5 months. She also had a blanket from birth since we coslept.

I use bumpers... I have heard bad things with or without bumpers... it's the parents choice really.

I ended up buying DD a bumper after I had walked into her room for the second time to see her arm stuck in the bars between the wall and the bar with it purple. Bought one and no problems from then on.

That stuff is fine if they have head control.
