posted 10th Feb
DD is 7, almost 8 weeks old. SHes been crazy fussy and hot for the pst hour. I just took her temp, and it was 100.0. Do i need to take her in the be seen right now or wait? I have no way to call the nurse line, so i figured i'd ask here.

I have always been told to call the doc/ER if it gets above 100.5
Hope she's feeling better soon.

100.4 is the danger zone temp for that age, so watch her carefully. I'd maybe take her in just to be safe.

Id try baby tylenol and if it doesn't seem to bring her temp down in a few hours, take her in

The fever rule is only until they're 6 weeks old. Second of all 100.0 isn't a fever. If the fever hits 102, you can give the baby tylenol. Not motrin until after they're 6 months old.

It's actually under 3 months.

General guidelines

If your baby is under 3 months old and has a temperature of 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C) or higher, call the doctor immediately. A baby this young needs to be checked for serious infection or disease.

Until they're 6 weeks old, a fever can mean something scary like spinal meningitis. It normally requires a spinal tap unless there is a known virus going on.

Per my pedi (not some random baby site), I don't take them in unless they've had a fever for more than 3 days in a row or if it isn't responding to medication. A fever is part of the baby's immune system which is why it's ok for it to be that high. Giving them medication to lower it only suppresses their immune system.

I also have 3 kids, so you better believe that my kids have gotten sick well before the 3 month mark. It didn't require running off to the dr's every time they had a borderline fever.

I know what a fever's purpose is, do not speak to me as if I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Shall I find you other reputable sources? Because I'm convinced your pediatrician is an idiot.
