Like I mentioned they are somewhat similar. With reactive airway disease if the child is exposed to an irritant, or in my sons case the after affect of my son having rsv as a newborn, it causes inflamation in the lungs,swelling in lungs and the smooth muscles in the airways of lungs tighten. A lot of times asthma and reactive airway disease are often confused bc similarities.. treatments are similar as well.

It sounds like RAD is just caused by viruses vs. Asthma that is caused by allergies and triggers.

I don't think rad is caused by viruses. When he went into hospital last summer he didn't have virus we were out downtown all day, he started gettin raspy,coughin, hard time catchin breath, after sittin for half hour he got worse

Ehhh that is what I got when I googled it, otherwise webmd says they are both the same thing???? /shrugs. I just know A was diagnosed by a whole team of specialists.

Something triggers it,

ASthma is triggered by a bunch of stuff, could be dust, polutants, perfume, cleaning products. As soon as they saw her history and saw she had Excema they diagnosed her as asthmatic.

That is how Audrianna is too.   we arent allowed to use anything around her until we can intorduce one at a time. Have you asked about getting an allergy test?

Same here! His attacks are random sometimes.
It can be viruses, allergies, infections, even just being in a too cold/warm room.

Exactly. Its crazy. Before his episode last summer, his dad got deployed in jan, we were on way to my moms afterwards and it started in the car
