Pre-Eclampsia

posted 10th Feb
If you had it with your first, did you end up developing it with any of your others? I had it pretty bad with DD, and was induced after 3 days on magnesium sulfate at 37 weeks exactly.

My OB said I'm at high risk of developing it again, but I'm just curious how many others ended up with it more than once.

Also, how is it managed when you develop it early?

Yes. I had it with both.
Really started developing it at 32 weeks with the first. Was induced at 36. It was severe with mag etc
Second, bp rose earlier. Was scheduled at 37-38 weeks for a high bp induction. Protein check on day of induction showed pre e- much milder not mag given.

I had it really bad with #1 and not with #2. I was monitored really close with my last, but had a healthy pregnancy.

I had it with my 1st and now i am on the verge of developing it again. I have had high blood pressure since 26 weeks and now i have trace protien in my urine and i am starting to swell (just a little). I didnt get it until i was 38 weeks with my 1st now its slowly creeping up on me. I will be induced at 37 weeks if i dont have any other symptoms by then...

For those who had it with #2 was your weight gain close to the same as it was with your pregnancy with pre e?

I had an emergency C-Section at 35 weeks with Pre-E that caused IUGR and super low fluid with my son. My BP was through the damn roof and LO only weighed 3.14 lbs. I've had the most kick ass BP EVER with this pregnancy. Like, it could be used as an example of health. Lol. I'm 38 weeks. I was super scared about getting it, but it's been great. One of the best things you can do is to manage your weight gain during pregnancy. I gained too much with my first and that put me more at risk.

My weight gain was slightly less with the second. Both I gained a lot of weight.
My second was a 'healthier' baby at birth

And how did you deliver? With DD I was able to manage vaginal, which surprised the hell out of my new OB. I really don't want to end up with a c-section this time.

I had it bad with DD. I was placed on bed rest for 5 weeks then induced the day after my due date. My DR told me that it was very unlikely to happen the second time around. He was right I didn't have it with DS.

They say it you are more likely to have it with your first pregnancy, same father, or if you had it in a previous pregnancy. So it's like 50/5

Both were vaginal- inductions.
Both were very very fast. Both I didn't use epidurals.
I was told when pre e is severe births are usually fast? My first labor was pretty much active for 45 min then pushed for 15.
Second about 4 hours ( pre e less severe)
