What makes you think your left side isnt producing? How old is the baby?

She'll be 3 weeks on Tuesday. My left side isn't nearly as full as my right and When I pump on the left I don't even get near an ounce. I've also noticed she gets extremely fussy when I try and feed her on the left side

Can you express milk from either breast? Are you experiencing pain in your left breast? That could indicated a blocked duct. I would need more information to really be of much help. If you have a blocked duct it would be best to try and nurse on the left side as much as you can, as the baby can often unplug it while nursing without any harm to baby. I've had plugged ducts before, it can leave a very uncomfortable sore spot on your breast and if left alone, it could become infected, it may also take more than just a couple nursing sessions to get it out.

What you pump is no indication of what you are producing. Try to let the baby nurse on the left side as much as possible. I always had a dominate breast. Do you have any pain or discomfort it could also be a clogged duct.

I had an issue like this, my left breast always produces less than my right, and while annoying, my right breast makes up for the lack and there is plenty for LO, being lopsided isn't much fun though, lol. I do know you can encourage milk production through nursing, and at 3 weeks you still have a good chance of evening things out. With my first son I had an inverted left nipple and by the time I figured out how to help him to latch on it was too late for my left side, lol, it stayed at least a cup size smaller than the right, and usually produced about 1/2 ounce less than the right.

Yes I can express milk from both. Not a lot comes out of the left side though. I'm not experiencing any pain or anything like that. I do let her nurse on the left side until I feel like she's not getting enough or anything then I switch her and I pump the left side but nothing really comes out

It can take several days to a week to increase milk supply, so I wouldn't worry too much unless you start having problems producing from your other breast as well. Just keep trying, it takes about 8-10 weeks to establish your milk supply so you should expect plenty of fluctuation in that time.

i am BFing and i can NOT pump... but I know I am producing because LO always has it running down is face just because you are not pumping it doesnt mean you arent producing it. I was afraid of the same thing and almost gave up until I realized he was in fact getting milk... LO is also fussy at one of my breasts and takes better to the other so I try to always finish him on the breast he doesnt like.just hang in there mama!

I still ebf my 8 month old daughter, and my left side has always produced slightly smaller amounts than the right. My suggestion is to start her on the left, let her nurse until she unlatches, switch to the right and then back to the left once she's done with the right, even if it's just for a few seconds. With enough stimulation, you shouldn't have a problem after a few days. Just make sure you don't neglect the right side either.

That must have been hard for you. My mom got really sick when my brother was 3 months and her milk dried up over night. It was hard for her, especially since my brother was allergic to the formula so she had to start supplementing with baby food. There weren't as many choices back then for formula. He was quite the projectile vomiter, lol. She has a few funny stories about that too.
