I'm sure it's a little different but I know how they do it in France. The birth mom has the baby at the hospital she goes home by herself and baby goes with a caregiver not the birth mother or adoptive parents. The baby stays with the caregiver for I believe three months. The adoptive parents are allowed to visit with baby. During this 3 months the birth mother can change her mind at any time. I'm not sure if its the same where you are or not.

Smurf! I wouldn't wanna adopt a baby in France! I mean obviously if I had no other options. But that's really dumb that the baby has to be with some random for 3 months.

You have to be a citizen of France to adopt u believe. You can only adopt from the zone you live in. We have family friends that have done it. They waited years for their baby! They wanted a French baby because they're French and they were on the list for like 5 years or something crazy like that. It's a very long process there. I may have misunderstood some of what I was told but that was what I took away from the conversation.

That's sad though. I mean, obviously adopting a baby/child shouldn't be easy as pie. Gotta make sure the ppl are serious but at the same time soapy children sit without a family for so long when there are hundreds of couples waiting to adopt :/. It sucks that they can't come up with a better process.

I'm not sure how overcrowded the system is there. But the baby goes home and stays with the caregiver which I do think is a little sad. They get bonded to that person and then 3 months later the caregiver hands them over to the adoptive family. I think it's a good thing that they are looking out for the birth mothers rights but I do feel horrible for the baby.
