Vitamin C dosage for toddler -??

posted 10th Feb
My son is just getting over a very slight runny nose. It seems to have faded today, but I was just able to get to the store to buy some vitamin c. They are 240 mg gummies. I'm finding contradicting info on the web about how much to give him. Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

He is 22 mo old.

I know. They're for adults since I figured I would be taking them more often and I can just bite them in half or something to give to him. I only plan on giving them to DS when he's sick, and from what I've read, your body needs more when you're sick. But 240 seems like alot....that's only one gummy though and adults dosage is two.

I've been giving him oranges and peaches and berries for the past few days. (He's a fruit fiend) Just thought a higher dose might help him kick this little cold or whatever it is. I was thinking about giving him a little less than half.

Too much vitamin C can cause some issues with the digestive tract and kidneys. Be careful with how much you push as far as supplements go.

Yes. I know he's getting the RDA of vitamin C. I was just under the impression that more than that can be useful when your immune system needs a little " jump".

Thanks. A few different sources have sited 400 to 500 mg as the absolute maximum for a child my sons age. I'm not planning in giving anywhere near that. I'm curious if this will even help at all. I know it can't hurt, as long as I don't give too much....
